What to Expect at a PDC Meeting

Professional Development Committees (PDCs) create learning opportunities and provide relevant content that makes Illinois ASBO indispensable to members. Get started by learning about PDC Meetings and how you can contribute.

The People

Committee members are encouraged to attend each meeting.  The Chair and Vice Chair will lead the discussion and manage content creation. These meetings are a great way to contribute your ideas and explore all of your opportunities to volunteer as a presenter, author, moderator or other role.

The Work

Each committee is responsible for specific content, whether it be at a session for a day conference or a stand-alone event. These meetings allow each committee to have time to generate ideas collectively and fill out any necessary paperwork, etc. in a workshop format. 

Call for Annual Conference Breakout Session Proposals

Share your expertise at the 2027 Annual Conference in Schaumburg! Illinois ASBO is now accepting breakout session proposals from members with ideas for unique and meaningful professional development.

Submit your proposal by Friday, September 18 using the online form below. Proposals must include a session title, description, presenter details, preferred format and session length. Submissions will be reviewed for relevance, clarity and alignment with Annual Conference goals. If your PDC is already submitting your session, do not submit it again here.

Please note: not all proposals will be accepted. Selected presenters will be notified once decisions are finalized.

The Value of PDC Participation

Through a speaking opportunity, I became more aware of PDCs. By attending committee meetings, I get to know people and find out what is really on the mind of school business officials. I learn what they are looking for to help them solve problems, educate them and get their questions answered. It is about all of us together doing group problem solving and putting our minds together — school district members, Service Associates and Illinois ASBO staff.

The Value of Illinois ASBO Networking

The biggest challenge as a school business official is juggling all the different hats we have to wear. The networking within Illinois ASBO has provided me the opportunity to discuss some of these issues with those at the same point in my career or others that have already arrived where I am looking to go. I can ask others who are already there how to prepare for the next step.
